America's Next Top Model Takes "Photo Shoot" Way Too Literally

Last night's episode of America's Next Top Model featured a crime scene-inspired photo shoot. Apparently, one of the show's producers is Ameila Badelia, and when she heard that there was going to be a photo shoot, she thought it would be a good idea to take photos of the models sporting bullet wounds. For someone like Tyra Banks (you know, someone whose head is bloated with the delusion that her career actually helps women), I think it's absolutely disgusting that she let this happen. Violence is not sexy. Bloody and bruised women are not fashionable. Not even when they're in lingerie.

I am horrified by this. Nearly speechless. Thank you for posting about this and passing it on.

Don't be ridiculous! It's a PHOTOSHOOT! It's meant to be dark and obviously shocking and edgy! Didn't you see the monstrosity that won the turner prize a few years ago? It was a bedroom decorated as a rape scene - - - this is what people call art these days! Relax, get laid and you might not all be so damn uptight....

Thank you. Art is supposed to be controversial. It' supposed to get people talking. Seeing such a prudish response to this photo shoot is such a disappointing sympton of a society that wants to remain ignorant. Are you people really for censoring the media and not letting the public make their own decisions?!? They are not promoting violence against women here! They are bringing it public and asking what glamour has become in the Western World!

Get laid by you, thesex? I think that'd make me more uptight. Or it might just make me fall asleep for a while.

This is an old post, so I don't even know why people are still commenting about it. What isn't old is this notion that violence is sexy. You don't bring attention to violence against women by having models pose as victims of rape and murder in the name of fashion. The show is called "America's Next Top Model," not "America's Next Top Public Service Announcement." If any of those photos were ads in magazines, they'd be captioned with "Wear our clothes, and you'll look sexy even if you get shot in the face." That's not a message that helps anybody.

You guys are pigs, why did you bring sex into the situation.
I watch Top model, its not bad.
The photoshoot was supost to be highfashion and edgy, no one was hurt, I thought is was prety cool.
And by the way, none of thease crime sceans involved rape.

I don't have to bring sex into a photo shoot featuring scantily clad, made-up models.

And when pictures of bloody women in sexually suggestive poses becomes "pretty cool" and "edgy," then I don't think it's safe to say that no one was hurt. The young people who watched that episode learned that violence is sexy. That is not okay, and as long as that idea is perpetuated, it hurts all women and girls.

As for none of the scenes involving rape, there's really no way to know that. Women are raped and then murdered all the time, and there's probably a crime scene photo that looks exactly like the one I posted in some murder/rape victim's file somewhere.
