Why Condi Won't Run, According to Laura Bush
"Probably because she is single, her parents are no longer living, she's an only child. You need a very supportive family and supportive friends to have this job."
So it has nothing to do with that proverbial Post-It she neglected in January 2001, which went something like "Attn: National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice, Re: Terrorist Attack by Osama bin Laden."
Here's the segment on last night's Countdown with Keith Olbermann of his interview with Margaret Carlson of Bloomberg News. It shows just how much Laura Bush knows about marriage . . . .
Margaret Carlson: "It may be what's inside Mrs. Bush, that to be single would be a terrible thing. She married 3 months after meeting George Bush and obviously wanted to be married." [emphasis mine]
And what makes a supportive family . . . .
Margaret Carlson: "Condi Rice is the daughter that Bush doesn't have. The twins don't go to Camp David and barely come home for holidays."
And how big of a hypocrite she is.
Margaret Carlson: "I think maybe Laura Bush is an only child."
Keith Olbermann: "Yup. I think you're right."

Actually, it has nothing to do with the "9/11 PDB". Only liberals are stupid enough to still buy into that bullshit. Someday you folks will have to accept that Condi is actually a popular individual in the country. That would require you to speak to people outside of those who actually agree with you, however.
For electoral purposes, Rice needs CX (constitutional officer) experience, that's all. She's run a Line Division (State) reasonably well and was actually able to run Rummy out of town. That made a lot of people happy. Plus, she stared down Jim Baker, which is a real plus. Gives her big mojo with the Base going forward, who look on Jim as one of the people who sold out the Iraqis back in 1991. She'll probably end up as Rudy's VP pick and serve as his XO.
Laura will be back in Crawford by then. Truth be told, the two actually get along well. If they didn't, Condi woulnd't be up at Camp David. Laura was just trying to be "matter of fact" in that West Texas kind of way.
Rice has always worked alone, but she has lots of friends. It's just that what Laura said was painfully true: her immediate family is dead.
Amazing to find people who actually watch Olbermann, btw. Jesus. It's like finding the original kineascopes of My Mother the Car. The man is a self-important ass, like his evil twin, Bill O'Reilly. Bill just figured out a way to be less pompous and get better ratings.
What does any of that have to do with the issue I presented? Laura Bush is a hypocrite. Rice has more problems that actually have to do with politics that can keep her out of the Oval Office. Whether one is a liberal of conservative, a plan of what to do about al-Qaida was created before the new administration took over, a plan that was addressed to Rice. That is a fact. She said there wasn't a plan, which means she's either a liar or an ignoramus. What is she going to do to make up for that? Play the piano? Buy a better tweed? You can't tell me that liberals are stupid for taking this gigantic mistake of hers seriously. It should be taken seriously, and anyone who's going to let this slide if she decides to run really don't care about the American people.
