Feminists As The "Crazy-Assed Bitches of Society".

So I've got this ongoing story on this blog. If you're a reader of this blog (how few there are!), then you might remember a guy I mentioned a long time ago named "Bob". Well, this is still ongoing drama, so I shall now give the latest installment, because let me tell you, the saga gets better and so much more misogynistic.

Bob and I happen to have the same lunch. I don't talk to him and try at every moment not to ackonwledge his existence, because if I did acknowledge his existence, Jeebus knows it wouldn't have to be for long, if you know what I mean.

So, this little story doesn't involve Bob directly, thank goodness, however, it still involves something that feminists face every day.

Allow me to first tell the story:

I am sitting at lunch with a few of my friends. My friend that we called "Pam" in the first couple of posts about Bob was there, and as you all know she hates Bob just as much as I do. So, we're sitting there laughing it up with my boyfriend, another girlfriend of ours, and two other guys that I don't know quite as well but they're acquaintances of mine. So, somehow the conversation turns to Bob and how much Pam and I hate him. The question of "OMG Why?" comes up of course, so we explain. Now the good part starts. After our explanation, we are told that Bob is "still a really cool kid" and we really shouldn't hate him. I mean, after all, it's cool to sexually humiliate chicks, right? Or, if a guy does that, well, it's doesn't really matter, does it? Not only is Bob a cool guy, however, but he's also funny! He is so hilarious that these two boys just couldn't imagine why I didn't like Bob.

So I called them on that shit. I told them that, sorry, but sexually humiliating women was definitely NOT funny nor was it cool, and anyone who could do something like that is not someone who deserves any human interaction, let alone any sort of praise. It's like saying that a rapist is still a really cool guy. If I had been in the mood to Godwin, I probably would have asked them if they thought Hitler was still a pretty cool guy (You know, vegetarian, neat mustache, etc.) even though he murdered 6 million Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, etc.

So, once that was established, it came down to the age-old "I don't believe you" defense. Suddenly, the story that these two guys had swallowed moments before was no longer plausible. I was a lying crazy bitch who hated this poor innocent funny-man for no good reason. Damn me to Hell.

So, there are two issues here that I want to discuss. I would hope that everyone could pinpoint them, but if not, here they are: First, it was just fine and dandy that this guy had sexually humiliated his girlfriend (he was still part of the good ol' boys club) and once again there is no male opposition to outright misogyny. Second, when all else fails, invoke the ideology of inherent female dishonesty. OF COURSE the womenz are just embellishing/don't know what they're talking about/outright making up stories.

I was quite bewildered by this. I've spoken about this at length with my other friends who are guys. I had a huge blow-up with my boyfriend about it because of his own passive attitude toward this guy, despite the fact that he was the one that was in a position to actually make a dent in Bob's idiocy. I talked to a frequent commenter and reader of this blog who happens to be my friend, and he has nothing but disdain for this kid. He believed me. My boyfriend was there! (As mentioned before, he was also at the lunch table today, so that was certainly brought up in major pwnage of the two guys that were in disbelief that Bob could have possible been the douchebag he was). Pam believed me when I told her about it. All of the girls I told believed me. It was only the two guys that were shocked, shocked to find out that perhaps their buddy wasn't as wonderful and funny as they thought he was (although they still maintain that the hilarity continues, apparently misogyny only makes the humor grow stronger).

So, once again, I present to you "Feminists as the Crazy-assed Bitches of Society". We're lying when we say sexism exists. Just thought I'd let you know.

P.S.-This post is probably entirely incoherent. I've been laid out with a virus for the past two days. Cut me some slack.

Misogynistic Boy Causes Ruckus on Facebook

A young man called Brody Ruckus created a group on Facebook called "If this group reaches 100,000 my girlfriend will have a threesome. In the group's description, Brody claims that he has been asking his girlfriend to have a threesome with him several times, and she has always refused. The couple supposedly made a bet that if his group becomes the largest group on Facebook, they will have a threesome. I joined this group instead.

I can't wait for this group to become the largest on Facebook and for his girlfriend to surprise him with another dude as the third person.

Who the Shit is This Bible-Thumper?

NARAL Pro-Choice America must think I live in New Jersey's 5th District, because they just sent me this video of Representative Scott Garrett (R-NJ) expressing his anti-choice views and urged me to donate to Paul Aronshon's campaign. Check out the (I assume) lady with the "I Regret My Abortion" sign. I regret not taking Lactaid before eating pizza. Overturn Dairy v. Wade!

UPDATE 9/21/06: As if this isn't bad enough, Stephen Colbert just profiled New Jersey's 5th on the segment called "Better Know a District" on The Colbert Report. Guess who didn't agree to the interview? Scott Garrett. What a robot.

Potential Rape Law Reform in Pakistan Causes a Stir

Here's a heart-warming story of blind nationalism and religious fanatacism *barfs*

Currently, Pakastani law requires testimony from four witnesses to prove a rape case. How often are there four witnesses to a rape (four people raping the same woman doesn't count)? Women who can't prove they were raped are considered guilty of adultery, which is punishable by death. President Gen. Pervez Musharraf's party introduced a bill to change this law by doing away with the 4-witness requirement. Members of Pakistan's National Assembly threaten to walk out if the law is changed. "We will render every sacrifice for the protection of the Shariah (traditional Islamic) laws," Islamic coalition leader Maulana Fazalur Rahman said Tuesday.

UPDATE 9/13/06

"Pakistan rape reform fails after Musharraf caves in"

*&%$^&*$$#&(&%$# VICTIM BLAMERS!!!!!

Okay, so this isn't actually news, but it just pisses me off to no end when people blame rape on the victim for stupid crap like what she was wearing. Megan and I often troll around the-n.com message boards. Sorting out misogynists is our raison d'ĂȘtre, and we're kind of notorious for being those feminists who wouldn't be so uptight if we just experienced the beauty of forced pregnancy between 16 seconds of fucking through a hole in the sheet and that walk in the park that is childbirth. Here's what some girl said after another girl informed her that rape isn't a choice:

"Well sorry to break it to you, but most rape victims draw attention to themsel[ve]s by the clothes they [wear], I've seen the news reports, 13 year old girls dressing, and acting like they're 18, I'm not saying all rape victims are the same, but most of them draw attention to themsel[ve]s."

After Megan and I both figuratively karate-chopped her head off, I reported the post, and it's been taken down. Feminists to the Rescue indeed!

And thanks to Drew for sending me the cartoon a million years ago.

Billie Jean King Honored by Having a U.S. Tennis Center Bear Her Name

For those who are not tennis buffs like I am, Billie Jean King is awesome. She has been an advocate for recognition and respect for women's tennis for her entire career, and has also been an activist against sexism and for women's rights off the court. Her greatest claim to fame is whipping Bobby Riggs' ass after he made a number of sexist comments and claimed that he could beat most of the top women even though he was a 55-year-old man.

She now has a tennis center named after her. A ceremony was held tonight, with tennis greats like Venus Williams, John McEnroe, Chris Evert, and Jimmy Connors. It was pretty neat. I'm very glad that she has gotten this recognition, as she has contributed greatly to women's tennis and tennis in general. I hope this will lead to even more recognition for women in the sport, and in sports in general. As we all know, Wimbledon has still yet to pay men and women equally.

Plan B Over the Counter But Still Limited

The FDA finally approved OTC-status of Emergency Contraception, also known as Plan B and the archaic "morning-after pill." As we all know, the sluts only come out at night. Unfortunately, over-the-counter Emergency Contraception is only available to women 18 and over, even though the greater medical community accepts that this drug can be taken by any female of reproductive age. Girls 17 and under will need a doctor's note to take advantage of Plan B.

Although this seems like a victory, it is a very minor one. With doctors still denying patients prescriptions for Emergency Contraception and other prescription birth control methods and pharmacists refusing to fill the prescriptions, there are still huge barriers that need to be broken for complete and fair access to reproductive services. Several acts have been introduced to increase access to and coverage of birth control, prevent unintended pregnancies, protect abortion rights, and support healthy families. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) recently sent me a list of all of the legislation he supports regarding reproductive rights.

Teen Pregnancy Prevention, Responsibility, and Opportunity Act: "This bill would increase funding for comprehensive and medically-accurate sex education programs and develop classroom and after-school initiatives to help young people build positive life skills."

Equity in Prescription Insurance and Contraception Coverage Act: This act "would prohibit health plans from restricting" prescription birth control.

Access to Legal Pharmaceuticals Act: This "would guarantee a patient's prescription is filled without delay or harassment. This bill strikes a careful balance by allowing a pharmacist to refuse to dispense contraception, but requires the pharmacy to ensure that there is someone present who will fill the prescription."

Compassionate Assistance for Rape Emeregencies Act: This act would "require hosptials that receive federal funds to provide information on and access to emergency contraception for victims of rape."

Freedom of Choice Act: "This bill would forbid government interference in a woman's right to make dceisions about family planning and her reproductive health."

MOTHERS Act: This act would "ensure that new moms and their families are educated about postpartum depression and that mothers are screened for symptoms and receive necessary services.

Contact your Congresspeople and tell them that you support these acts and reproductive freedom. Science before politics!

Career Girls Ruin Marriages, Homes, and Lives Apparently!

The original source for this article no longer exists, so I posted it at my other, quieter blog Womb of Doom. I know it hurts, but I suggest you read the whole thing.

The author of this diatribe, Michael Noer, makes many outrageous claims:

Men who marry women with careers "run a higher risk of having a rocky marriage."

"[P]rofessional women are more likely to get divorced, more likely to cheat, less likely to have children, and, if they do have kids, they are more likely to be unhappy about it."

"[W]omen--even those with a "feminist" outlook--are happier when their husband is the primary breadwinner."

"[T]he more successful she is the more likely she is to grow dissatisfied with you."

"[M]arrying these women is asking for trouble. If they quit their jobs and stay home with the kids, they will be unhappy ( Journal of Marriage and Family, 2003). They will be unhappy if they make more money than you do ( Social Forces, 2006). You will be unhappy if they make more money than you do ( Journal of Marriage and Family, 2001). You will be more likely to fall ill ( American Journal of Sociology). Even your house will be dirtier ( Institute for Social Research)."

"The other reason a career can hurt a marriage will be obvious to anyone who has seen their mate run off with a co-worker: When your spouse works outside the home, chances increase they'll meet someone they like more than you."

"Additionally, individuals who earn more than $30,000 a year are more likely to cheat. And if the cheating leads to divorce, you're really in trouble. Divorce has been positively correlated with higher rates of alcoholism, clinical depression and suicide. Other studies have associated divorce with increased rates of cancer, stroke, and sexually-transmitted disease."

"So why not just stay single? . . . . "[A] good marriage is associated with a higher income, a longer, healthier life and better-adjusted kids."

I was waiting for him to conclude with a statement of men's oppression by these wicked career women. I mean, if he marries a career woman, he totally suffers from various illnesses, incompetent offspring, and a dirty house. Yet if he doesn't get married, he'll contract herpes and commit suicide by mixing anti-depressants and alcohol. Poor men! However, this article provides a solution for these oppressed men: Marry June Cleaver. Done and done!

To the astute feminist reader, this article further proves women's oppression. Women who want to have fulfilling, well-paying jobs sacrifice their happiness because they have to juggle being a woman, being a wife, and being a mother. Oh, did I just repeat myself? Women have to take on both traditional masculine and feminine roles to ensure the well-being of themselves, their children, and their seemingly incompetent yet somehow socially superior husband. The possible solution of allocating domestic duties equally between husband and wife in order to alleviate the stress that comes with being a full-time participant in both the private and public spheres never occurred to Michael Noer or the other penises that control this country, probably because he's too busy worrying about how oppressed he is. On the other hand, women who choose to stay home, or are told to by their paranoid husbands who read Forbes, play the invisible mom role, and are both taken for granted and openly told that their work means nothing because they don't get paid day after day after day.

But hey, at least she'll live to be 100 in her happy, healthy, traditional marriage.

Teacher of 54 Years Fired for Being a Woman

A minister of a Baptist church fired a female Sunday school teacher, Mary Lambert, in Watertown, NY after realizing that the Bible should be taken literally as a guide on how to oppress women. Rev. Timothy LaBouf sites 1 Timothy 2:12, "I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent." Even worse, this man is a member of the Watertown's "non-partisan" City Council. He says this one sexist belief won't interfere with his decisions made as a councilman, since he believes that women can do any job she wants, as long as it's outside the Church. I don't buy it.

You can contact LaBouf by callling (315) 788-7363 or by e-mailing him at TLaBouf@watertown-ny.gov

Ghost-like apparitions who have no wrinkles and smell like laundry detergent, er, women. Patriarchy's wet dream!

I watch a lot of TV. If I'm being honest, I watch too much TV. But in my television watching, I often notice certain paradigms portrayed in advertising. I know, I know, we've already had posts on advertising and how big of a shaft it gives to women and gender equality. And good posts at that. :)

But certain commercials bother me, and this is my place to rant about them. So, rant I will.

Commercial That Bothers Me #1: Suave.

This commercial bothers me for two main reasons. It buys into the less woman-friendly patriarchal gender roles and it further demeans the women within said gender roles, whether they're there by choice or not.

Now for the description:

An invisible person is doing a variety of things. They are pushing a grocery cart, feeding a baby, carrying laundry upstairs, pulling a child away from a television screen, picking out a man's socks, and cooking dinner. Then you see that the invisible person is the, I guess, ghost of a woman who would be doing those things, but she has somehow escaped long enough to wash her hair with Suave products and become beautiful again.

Honestly, I don't even think this commercial NEEDS feminist analysis to seem really bad. But, I've been dying to do it because I "argh" at the screen every time it comes on.

I'm just wondering, why is it that said man in this commercial cannot pick out his own socks? Is it too hard to open a drawer and pick them up? Does the ghost woman put them on his feet, too? Once again, why is it that women have to make up for "male weakness" by being domestic slaves? Why is the ghost woman the only one to feed the baby? Why is she the only one doing laundry?

And now to my last question: What makes women who do these things not beautiful? Why do they have to spend their money on beauty products to be "beautiful"? I don't see anyone telling the man who's socks she picked out that he's not beautiful because he works for a living.

/rant #1.

Commercial That Bothers Me #2: Tide

This commercial bothers me for one reason, but it's a big bother.

Description: A woman is shown feeding her baby, with a voiceover of "smelling like a mom" or some variant. Then, after she uses Tide on her clothing, she is shown in a romantic scene with a man and the voiceover changes to "smelling like a woman".

This bothers me. I'm wondering why a woman can't "smell like a mom" and "smell like a woman" at the same time. It's a classic example of the trap set for women by patriarchy. If you don't procreate on cue, you're just a floozy slutbag. If you do, you're no longer sexually desirable and you stink, apparently. Again, this is turning women into simple roles rather than people who have numerous facets to their personality, not to mention people who can display all of those facets at the same time. Motherhood isn't shameful, and it isn't the antithesis to womanhood. I see no reason why it should have to be hidden from men like it's "unsexy".

Commercials That Bother Me #3: Wrinkle Cream

There isn't one specific commercial for this rant. It's all of them. I don't care how they're displayed, constructed, introduced, any of it. I don't care about that.

I'm worried about the concept of wrinkle cream more so than the commercials themselves, although the commercials are misleading and dishonest, considering they seem to make anti-wrinkle attitudes out to be the ideas of women as opposed to the ideas of the men they're sleeping with or the culture around them. Every time I see a wrinkle commercial I ask my mom a question and I'm sure she's tired of hearing it.

Why the hell don't MEN have to make sure they never have wrinkles? Women make less on the dollar, and they have to spend much more on grooming and making sure they never age, which is another impossible feat. Women always have to be given impossible feats to accomplish, and it boggles my mind.

And now my huge rant is over. It probably didn't make much sense, but in all actuality, neither do any of these commercials or concepts. That's all I have to say about THAT before my head explodes.

Poor Women's BETTER Access to Contraception Could Save US $1.5 Billion

The Alan Guttmacher Institute recently conducted a study* estimating the number of abortions, unplanned pregnancies, and unplanned births that can be prevented if there was equal access to contraception provided by Medicaid. As of now, Medicaid can cover prenatal and limited postpartum care for poor families that are otherwise uneligible for Medicaid benefits, which are families who earn less than 133% of the poverty level. Some states have expanded their benefits to include family planning services to families who make up to 200% of the federal poverty threshold with favorable results, since pregnancy-related care is much more expensive than pregnancy-reducing measures (surprise!). The study also estimates how much federal money can be saved if Medicaid benefits expanded to include the same population's access to contraception. According to the results, the following could happen three years after the implimentation of the program:

  • "secure women’s access to contraception and allow some women who were using less effective contraceptive methods to switch to more effective methods;
  • "prevent between 375,000–720,000 unplanned pregnancies, 180,000–345,000 unplanned births and 150,000–290,000 abortions;
  • "generate significant cost savings ranging from $1.1 billion to $1.6 billion for federal and state governments."

*Yes, the article is 84 pages long. The Executive Summary is an overview of everything, and the first four chapters go more in depth. Everything else is tables and junk.

New Survey Shows Majority of Voters Support Candidates Who Respect Privacy

Whooda thunk?!

A study designed and conducted by Lake Research Partners for NARAL Pro-Choice America surveyed 1,000 registered voters age 18 and over on their views of the politicization of abortion and other reproductive services. Here's a summary of the results:

77% agree overal and 56% strongly agree that "government and politicians should stay out of a woman's personal and private decison of whether or not to have an abortion."

64% of voters would favor a pro-choice candidate who believes that the government and politicians "should not interfere in a decision best made by a woman, her family, her doctor, and her God." 65% would favor a pro-life candidate with the same stance.

8 in 10 voters are tired of the politicization of abortion.

65% are unfavorable towards candidates who support the refusal of emergency contraception by pharmacists. 61% are unfavorable towards candidates who do not support emergency contraception being given to rape and incest victims in hospitals. 61% don't favor candidates who don't support public funding for birth control and family planning services.

65% disapprove of Louisiana's and South Dakota's extremely restrictive abortion laws.

6 out of 10 voters disapprove of the fact that "Congress has voted 145 times in the past 10 years to restrict reproductive health services, including abortion, birth control, and other forms of contraception."

For full results, method of obtaining results, and some of the questions that were asked to the participants, check this out.

So baybees are entitled to use women's bodies, but only if men are done with them?

A new study has just come out. It states that, surprise surprise, less than 4 years into marriage, less than half of 30-year-old women wanted regular sex. Now, the bovious reason for this, for anyone who is normal and NOT stupid, would be "Oh, women are probably tired because they work harder than men, on average". Well, knowing that this is the logical, most correct response, let's take a dive into Wingnutland!

Rabbi Shmuley Boteach knows the secret to making married couples have more sex: Give breasts back to their rightful owners, men. He says that women who breastfeed their children make their breasts into something useful, and that turns men off. The minute a baby touches a woman's boob, it's no longer appealing as a sex object, and thus, men no longer find their wives appealing.

This is a wonderful example of male entitlement, not to mention the very strong existence of mixed messages being sent to women. From one angle, they're bad mommies if they don't breastfeed, and from another, they're bad sex-slaves if they do. So now Boteach has created a world where women must choose between their children and their spouses. It's ridiculous, it's misogyny, and it's completely incorrect. There is absolutely no truth to the notion that women's breasts are no longer appealing if they breastfeed with them. Not only that, but that shouldn't matter anyway! Men do not have breasts. They cannot get them through marriage. Sorry, Rabbi.

Amanda at Pandagon and Shakespeare's Sister have more on this topic. I just couldn't help but touch on it myself it made me so sick to my stomach.

Support Dr. Shirin Ebadi & the Center for the Defense of Human Rights

Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Shirin Ebadi is the founder of Iran's Center for the Defense of Human Rights. This program is in danger of being ended by the Iranian government, claiming the organization is illegal because it supposedly does not have the proper permit. According to the Feminist Majority Foundation, it is not against the law for social organizations in Iran to operate without a permit. Even so, the CDHR has requested a permit several times but received no response from the Iranian government.

To support Dr. Ebadi's noble humanitarian work, contact the United Nations and the Iranian government to let the CDHR continue to exist. For more information, you can check out Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, and the Nobel Women's Initiative.

Support the REAL Act . . . Please.

Moving in with your boyfriend is like . . . .

Well, that's what Pro-Knowledge.org, a part of the rampant crisis pregnancy center provider Care-Net, wants you to think. This website provides abstinence-only propaganda in place of truthful information about sex, sexuality, contraception, and STDs. Their campaign is directed at teenage girls, because everybody knows no amount of sex-ed can possibly benefit guys, even if it is false. Or maybe they just think girls are naive enough to believe it.

The possibility that this garbage is taught to our middle and high school students and the certainty that abstinence-only education causes more harm than good makes me very anxious about the future of our society. I should be thankful that this sort of thing doesn't literally scare the pants off me; that might be mistaken as an open invitation to my vagina.

To support accurate information about sex being taught in American public schools, urge your Representatives to pass the Responsible Education About Life (REAL Act). I'm proud to say that one of my state's Senators, Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ), is a co-sponser of this act. Protect our youth from unintended pregnancy, STDs, and right-wing politics!

Gender Equality According to Hummer

How nice it is that Megan warned you all, although I was looking forward to barging in. I guess I'll introduce myself. I'm Emily posting as FEMily! I'm 21, and I'll be starting graduate school in the fall, which means I'll be a student by night and hopefull a feminazi all day!

I was going to write about these Hummer commercials that I've been seeing lately in my other blog, but they made a slight change to one of them. Despite the change, I can still bitch about it. Huzzah! In case you're confused about which Hummer commercials I'm talking about, here's a description.

One commercial stars a mother playing with her young son at the park. A heart-warming scene indeed! Then she realizes that motherhood in public is unbecoming, so she races to the nearest GM dealer, trades in her mini van that just screams "Mom Mobile," and buys a shiny new Hummer. The commercial ends with Hummer me to "get my girl on." I guess that means buy something that'll expel more carcinogens into the air my hypothetical children breathe.

The other feautures a young man buying a supply of vegetables and tofu at the grocer's check-out counter. He looks behind him to see another man buying more manly groceries of red meat and beer. Of course, the vegetarian feels his masculinity has been threatened. I'm sure in the micro cosm of "Patriarchy at the Grocery Store" such a manly man would be gossipping to all of his friends about "that vegetarian with a penis" in between tearing through a bloody steak and chugging a Bud Light. Naturally, our bean curd-loving protaganist trades in his small, fuel-efficient auto for a Hummer behind the slogan "Reclaim your manhood." This last bit was eventually changed to "Restore the balance," probably after they donated a large sum to The National Right to Life.

Even with the change of the commercial aimed towards men who like tofu, both commercials are still sexist for the simple fact that they exist. For the first commercial, a conflicting message that is sent to every female in this country is reinforced: While motherhood is something to be desired by every woman and girl, it is also a life path that is suppressive; a woman can't be a mom and the person she was before she was a mom (unless she buys a Hummer, that is). As for the second commercial, taking out the word "manhood" does not fix anything if they replace it with a phrase that is equally patriarchal and the overall themes of the commercial remain. The belief that men who don't eat meat are somehow lesser men is still a motivating factor in buying a Hummer. Driving the Hummer "restores the balance" by doing a "manly" activity to cancel out eating his chick food. I mean, if he can't get cancer on his lean protein and high antioxidant diet, he might as well get it from breathing in smog!

Don't take my word for it, buddies. You can see the commercials on their official website!

Announcement!

Feminazi by Night is undergoing some renovations and some additions to what was the one-feminazi staff. Things they are a-changin', so I just wanted to give my, what is it, 2 readers a heads up. New introductions will take place soon. :)

She Was Made a Target By Being Born With a Vagina

Or in other words, a first day of school adventure. :)

Lunch is quite the time for drama. You see it all the time in those cheesy teen soap operas. Today was no exception in Feminazi By Night land, and I had to become the Feminazi by Night during school hours! It's like Clark Kent turning into Superman right in the middle of the newsroom! It's crazy talk!

It's also not important. What's important is the issue that made me go into Feminazi mode.

I believe very strongly that the strongest indicatorsw of patriarchy can be seen in the way society acts toward the abortion issue and the rape issue, especially when the two are meshed. However, I'm going to take on one of the two in this post. Your good old fashioned victim blaming! Yaaaaay!

You've all heard it before. "She was wearing a short skirt", "She was drunk", "She was hanging all over him".

So, I had a lovely screaming match with a fellow student today. That was the inspiration for my post title, as it was the last thing I screamed at said student. Once again, names are being changed to protect the not-so-innocent (speaking of which, *puke* I saw Bob today). Today's unsuspecting victim (or maybe not? After all, the argument is "personal responsibility" isn't it?) will be called George.

And George, if you're reading this, I urge you to comment. That way I can't scream over you like you said I did today when I pwned you. :)

Anyway, to get down to it, George brought out the age old many times disproved dehumanizing misogynistic argument of "personal responsibility" for women to stop rape. What George doesn't know, however, is that rape is a male problem. Men rape, so men need to stop. For a better example that someone like George can understand, burglars steal, so they need to stop. Anyone that they steal from is a victim. It doesn't matter if they had their door wide open. The burglar STILL has no right to steal from them.

It is not the victim's job to stop the crime from happening, because such a feat is impossible. A person walking home from the bus stop does not have any responsiblity to stop someone from mugging them. By the same token, a woman does not have to wear a burka to stop men from raping her. That is not a society in which women are free, and a society in which women are not free is a sexist society indeed. Anyone who can't see that needs to get their head out of their (I hope cleanly shaven in case of ass-rape) sphincter. Women have a right to feel safe just like any human person, just like any citizen. Men feel safe in this society. There is no reason why women should have to cater to male whim or incorrect myths about why rape occurs for them to feel safe, too.

As Martha Stewart would say: It's a good thing.

This is awesome.

I've been wondering, in all my years of skateboarding and X-games fandom, when the women who skate would get a chance to shine. Seems like now it's going to be next year.

Now That's What I Like To See!

First and foremost: For my next birthday, minions!

Secondly:

That brilliant shirt comes from BuyOlympia.com, one of the many stores, boutiques, and organizations funding and sponsoring Pro-Choice/Pro-Fashion, a great event that proves that a woman's right to choice about her body shouldn't (and hopefully won't) ever go out of style.

See Feministing's post about it. They have a complete list of sponsors. Check 'em out. There's some awesomeness there.

More Reasons To Love Japan.

So, in watching Miss Universe tonight because I'm a crazy Project Runway freak and Miss USA wore Kane's dress from it, I was actually very impressed. Not by the pageant, of course, because it was all about fake boobs and two seconds of talking. Not exactly a feminist's wet dream.

Anyway, what I was impressed with was Miss Japan.

Her final question was: "If you could take back anything in history, what would it be?"

Her answer was basically a women's rights rant, talking about how she would like to see "Men stop exploiting their physical power" and "let them give that up" and good stuff like that.

And, even though she was on a fast-track to the crown, she didn't win it. What a coincidence. It went to Puerto Rico, the actress.

Allow me to conduct a lovely chorus of "What the Hell?!".

From Feministing:

Women drinkers told to wear nice pants
By Anil Dawar
(Filed: 13/07/2006)

A police magazine is advising women planning a drunken night out to ensure they had waxed and were "wearing nice pants" in case they collapsed.

Suffolk Police's Safe! magazine carries a reminder for readers "intent on getting ratted", alongside a picture of a scantily-clad woman on the floor with the caption "if you've got it don't flaunt it".

It reads: "If you fall over or pass out, remember your skirt or dress may ride up. You could show off more than you intended - for all our sakes, please make sure you're wearing nice pants and that you've recently had a wax. Better still, eat before you go out, think about how much you're drinking, pace yourself and drink plenty of water in between bevvies or better still, don't get in this sorry state - it's not nice."

Suffolk police defended its "gossipy, tongue-in-cheek style" saying officers hoped it would encourage young women to pick up the magazine and take notice.

"There have been a number of attacks on women who have been drinking and there is a serious safety message to get across," said a police spokesman.
This is just beyond anything I could ever possibly say. However, I think I'll try to put my complete and utter feminazi rage into eloquent script. :)

Where the hell do they get off with such victim-blaming? Better yet, where the hell do they get off joking about the rape while blaming the victims of it?

Please, somebody tell me what is so "tongue-in-cheek" about men not being able to respect women enough to allow them to have the liberty they enjoy without the fear of being sexually assaulted? This is a classic example of how patriarchal societies put the burden of rape prevention on the potential victims. We all know this is an impossible feat, so why do we expect it out of women? Shouldn't we be putting more of an emphasis on, oh shucks I dunno, making sure men STOP raping women? I'm sorry, but women have a right to be safe from sexual assault. They will not have that freedom until sexual assault is a rare occurrence, and blaming the victim of said assault is not the way to accomplish that goal.

An awesome point was brought up in the comment section of the Feministing post as well. What if this were an article telling men to make sure they waxed their hairy asses before they went out drinking, just in case they passed out and one of their buddies got a little too fresh? I doubt that would go over very well, and I don't think it would be laughed off as "gossipy and tongue-in-cheek". Why? Maybe because rape ISN'T FUCKING FUNNY.

That is all.

Speaking of arrogant mofos. . .

So, while I'm on a rampage to flatten every sick fuck who's ever thought they have a right to control over a woman's reproductive system for any reason whatsoever (be it having the same reproductive organs, different ones, a misogynistic religion, sick rape fantasies a la Bill Napoli, a combination of any of those, or an all new novel reason), I figured I'd take on the people who, while still thinking they can own women, fancy themselves nice and caring enough to allow their brood mares to abort if it will kill them.

My question them is, who decides? If a woman has preeclampsia, can she abort? Her life is not in danger at the time, but the preeclampsia could very well turn into eclampsia which is responsible for 12% of all maternal deaths. So, is her life in "enough" danger for her to get permission from antis to "allow" her to save her own health? How much does it take? Does she have to actually be seizuring in the maternity ward hallway with the actual eclampsia to be "eligible" for her right to bodily autonomy?

What these people don't realize is that the brunt of maternal deaths happen AFTER abortion is widely available. Many are unforseen. According to the WHO, 70% of maternal deaths are due to hemmorhaging. Raise your hand if you think that hemmorhaging happens in the first trimester.

Apparently, a lot of pro-life hands are going to go up.

Either that, or they're full of shit on "partial birth abortion" bans. I mean, in normal debates, they think the way to win is to describe graphically a supposed "partial birth abortion" like it's a first trimester vacuum aspiration, but when it comes to saving the woman's life (which is what late term abortions are used for, i.s. pbas), they say they're for it.

Well, get your head out of your ass (or Bible, but can anyone really see a difference?) and make up your mind.

Non-Hospitals and Non-Pharmacists, a match made in Hell.

I have a problem with people who take the wrong jobs on purpose. I also have a problem with people who think they have the right to throw out part of their job description just because they don't like it. Catholic non-hospitals (I refuse to call them hospitals, hospitals help their patients) and religious non-pharmacists (I do not call them pharmacists, because they do not do the job of a pharmacist) are exactly these people.

A recent survey showed that a majority of Catholic hospitals do not give women emergency contraception, even in the case of a rape.

They say, well, what about my religion? You want to know what I say? Fuck your religion. You knew the job description, you saw that it conflicted with your religious convictions. So why did you take the job in the first place? That's your problem, not the patients'. If Catholics feel like they can't fulfill part of what being a hospital entails, perhaps they shouldn't run hospitals.

I have a favorite example to illusutrate how stupid this really is. Let's say I apply for a job at the local strip club. I get the job. On my first day, I go into the club and realize, oh my goodness, these women are taking their clothes off! I don't feel comfortable doing that because of my own personal convictions. So, should I just tell my employer that they have to keep me around and on the payroll anyway, even though I'm not going to do the job I got hired for? No. If I don't do what's in the job description, I don't get to keep the job.

Here's another example. Let's say I'm a devout Catholic and I'm a cashier at Publix. They sell condoms at Publix, and a man comes in and wants to purchase a pack of them. Now, because I'm a devout Catholic, I am strictly against contrception. So, because of my religious convictions, can I tell the man that I won't sell him the condoms? Should I just tell him to go to another store?

This is what Catholic non-hospitals do. This is what non-pharmacists do. It's wrong, it's presumptuous, it's arrogant, and it's a misuse of "rights".

From Swooning to Puking.

Well, it's good to know what the price of a well-kept hymen is. A thousand bucks, a gift certificate to the mall, and some McDonalds fries.

That's right folks! It's time to pit one untouched hymen against another in the abstinence essay contest! I'm sure contest officials tried their hardest to keep the screeches of "My virginity is better, slut!" down to a minimum while all the pure ladies fought tooth and nail for patriarchy approval.

Hey, I need some college money and I'm a patriarchy-approved specimen. Maybe I should send in my story. What do you guys think? "I view my virginity as totally forgettable and a burden because that shit's gonna hurt. I'm only keeping it around because I'm not an adult yet and so therefore I have no rights". How does it sound so far? Do you think I could be next year's winner?

Hmm. . .maybe if I mentioned my Dad. . .

Free stuff! See that? FREE!

Sorry I've been a little low on the opinions lately. I've been a little burnt out on the bitch.

In any case, this is neat. I urge all of you to order them. The more dollars we generate, the better. And yes, it's free.

No Such Thing As Accidental Pregnancy?

I'm sure this letter is familiar to all women, as apparently, we write similar ones whenever we want to have sex.

Today I took part in a discussion about whether or not pregnancy can be accidental. I found it irritating and rather surprising that numerous people said that no, pregnancy cannot be accidental because women know they can get pregnant when they have sex.

This is quite the nonsensical and sexist belief.

What these people are trying to impart is that if a woman knows that consequence B can happen from decision A, than consequence B could not be an accident.

Now, let's apply this logic to something other than the magical sex act (which changes everything in patriarchy land, and if you need an example, check this out.).

I am a woman, and I have my driver's license. I wake up every morning at 9 A.M. to go to my college algebra class, which means I need to use my car and driver's license to get me there. Thus, I make the conscious decision to drive. I do this knowing full well that I am merely in control of what I am doing, so I very well could get blindsided or even make a slip-up of my own. Now, let's say on my way there, a light changes from red to green for my lane, so I continue on driving. However, I am sadly ignorant of the fact that another car is hurtling toward me with no intent on stopping at the red light they have. So, I end up T-boned in the intersection.

According to crazy ass everything is a woman's fault logic, my accident would have been my fault because I made the decision to drive in the first place. Which, as we all know, is why we call car crashes "on purposes".

Not convinced yet? Let's try a heavier topic.

I am 5 feet 5 inches tall and rather slight in stature. I am quite the weakling, to be honest. Let's say I wake up at 4:30 in the morning and think "Hmm. I'm hungry for Krispy Kreme donuts. I think I'll walk to the gas station up the road that carries them." So, I put my hair in a ponytail, slip on some sweats and slides, and get to walking. So, I have just made the conscious decision to walk all alone, in lose clothing, with my hair up, with my weakling body, without any pepper spray or protection at all, in the very early morning, to the gas station down the street. Now, I do this knowing full well that anyone could jump out and attack me and possibly rape me. I mean, I am a woman and not very strong at all, and therefore probably an easy target at any time. So, let's say that such a thing does happen.

According to crazy everything is a woman's fault logic, it would be my fault that I was beaten and raped. Why? Because consent to action A always equals consent to action B. Which is why it's okay to blame pregnancy on women.

So, as I said before, quite nonsensical and quite sexist. This kind of belief is so obviously rooted in patriarchy. A man could have nothing to do with an accident that only involves a woman's body! The hussy should have known what would have happened and been able to control her fertility by asking her ovaries nicely not to release an egg because manly man sperm was hangin' out in it's newly conquered territory!

And so, the letter comes in. Get to writing sluts, because if you choose to partake in an action, your ass is responsible for any and every reaction! So get ready!

Aaaaand I'm spent.

A thought about extreme feminism.

The above image holds so much truth, and yet no one sees it. Today, a young girl told me that "[She was] not an extreme feminist like me". Now, I'm wondering what that means. Feminism is the radical notion that women are people, right? Well then, how can there be an "extreme form" of being for women's personhood? If you think women are people, you think women are people. In my opinion, there is nothing extreme about that. So, it's when people tell me that they don't like "extreme feminism" or "radical feminism" that I start to see red. So, in other words, you like feminism as long as you still get to give women their cues on as far as they can go as far as their personhood is concerned. They can only be as much of a person as you'll allow them to be, huh?

Ugh. Whatever. It's just another feminist to add to the list of straw feminists that are killing babies, practicing witchcraft, turning into lesbians, emasculating men, and ruining traditional family and marriage. *Le sigh*

I can only love my body for 9 months at a time.

The only way a woman can be happy with her body.

Sometimes I love talking to fundies. Not because I value anything they say or because I like wingnuttery and crazy ass people who think I should spend my days in the maternity ward, but simply because they pelt you with little gems of godbag wisdom that doubles as a mini-stand-up comedian.

Take this one, for example.

It's hardcore feminists like yourself, that actually hate the female body. Of course, you're so blinded by your cause, to even see the truth. While I am not saying that feminism is bad, (most moderate feminists embrace, and rightful should, the female body.) But you do not want equality, instead, you merely want to free yourself from having any connection to the female sex. Pregnancy is a natural process of the female body - yet instead you see it as a disease. Your hate of your own body drives radical feminists, like yourself, to want a sexless body. But in truth, sexism can be eradicated, while still embracing the two distinct genders, male and female.
Now, before I came out to sit on my computer and vegetate, I was vegetating in front of my television screen watching Todd Manning being given the death penalty for killing Margaret Cochran on One Life To Live. Sitting next to me was a sports bottle filled with lemonade tea. It's message board posts like this that make me so happy that I had the foresight to tell myself not to bring said bottle of tea to the computer with me for drinking while I browsed, lest I ruin my lovely computer screen with the tea-lemonade-saliva liquid combination that was bound to come erupting from my mouth should I have had the misfortune to read this while savoring some of the wonderful refreshment.

But the laughing part would have been good, because it certainly was without the lemonade tea.

It will never cease to amaze me how fundies can equate loving women with forcing them to gestate. I always wonder how they can spout rhetoric about how giving women choices about their body is hating pregnancy, women's bodies, and nature with a straight face. But most of all, I wonder how they can believe it. I mean, it's easy to say it. Sure. I could say lots of things if someone paid me the right amount. But to actually believe that forcing women to gestate is a natural, good, healthy thing is just preposterous and ridiculous. And especially to accuse others who think that women are not simple broodmares of hating pregnancy and women's bodies. Well, it almost makes me feel so bad that I go out and buy them a new box of straws to grasp.

But this quote in particular was hilarious, because it was in reply to a totally different subject. I was talking about the right to bodily autonomy and how women shouldn't have to give it up because no one else has to. Then suddenly, I hate my body, am a man-hating feminazi, and think pregnancy is a disease.

*tsk tsk*

Penises glow in the dark? Neat!

By removing the power of men the government has done the equivalent of removing the sun from the solar system.
Hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!! Uh oh! I put the ultra man quote in pink! I hope it doesn't send womanly-rays-of-penile-death to the author of this ludicrous blog post. Please. I invite you all to read this and laugh your asses off just as I did. Just the thought of testosterone = the sun is enough to make me roflcoptr for hours.

*vomit*

Ladies, I'd just like to let you know that, although you should all think of yourselves as "pre-pregnant", we are NOT trying to turn you into babymakers for the good ol' patriarchy.

That's right. Folks are all about trying to get more health awareness for women, but only because it'll benefits the baybees. They even tell women who are not sexually active or planning on having children anytime soon to make sure they keep healthy for every and any spawn that wriggles it's way into their uterus. I'm sorry, but I have a problem with people advocating for keeping women healthy not because they deserve it, but because they could soon be incubators for something else.

Just more proof that America is controlled by Walmart. We just love those rollbacks! Especially if we're rolling back the personhood of women!

Why Democrats Need A Backbone

Pro-Choice Candidates Discouraged

Powerful Democrats have lined up to support Casey, ignoring his anti-choice positions. Pennsylvania Gov. Edward G. Rendell and Sen. Charles Schumer of New York, head of the political and fundraising arm of the Senate Democratic caucus last year discouraged other potential challengers from running against Casey to avoid a contentious primary contest.

I'm so tired of my reproductive rights being a puck for the politicians to bat back in forth and manipulate in any way that will make them win.

Read the article here.

If this doesn't scare the shit out of you. . .

Nothing will.

Vote to combat the fundies in 2006!

Also, in other les scary news, this was an actual conversation that I had with someone online today.

Them:"Do you realize what you sound like? . . . An A$$-O!!! "
Me: "Ass-O? Is that a new breakfast cereal?"

Pure gold.

Okay Seriously. Somebody's Gotta Be Kidding.

This cannot be for real. I mean, honestly.

I especially like this little gem:

One can argue that a young woman speaking her mind is a sign of equality. "That's a good thing," says Sawyer, father of four daughters. "But for some guys, it has come at a price. It's turned into ED in men you normally wouldn't think would have ED."
So, if I have an opinion, the moment I put it into words I'll hear a fizzling sound and know that, dammit, I've made another penis shrivel into patriarchy-deprived oblivion?

I'll have to warn my boyfriend.

I do have to say, at least they mentioned the fact that drugs, alcohol, not exercising, and stress were all contributing factors as opposed to "Men suffer when women can't keep their legs closed". But still, some of the things in that article make the patriarchy radar bleep rather loudly.

In other news: Click this link if you want to be cool. It's totally free, and it donates tampons and pads to homeless shelters in your state.

Who you gonna call? Prickbusters!

Some guy told me to "Get off his dick" today when I told him he was gross for spitting.

I was tempted to tell him that I unfortunately had forgotten my magnifying glass.

Return of Mr. Owl Face

Remember when I said that the Twilight Zone music would probably continue? Yeah. It definitely has.

So, we've gone over Act I and Act II of this little misogynistic, sickening play, right? Well, get ready for Act III, and honestly, perhaps a big finish.

So I had let the issue go for a while. I figured that I would just hate the kid in silence and if anyone ever asked me about what I thought of him, well, it's bad-mouth city. If the kid so much as looked at me in the hallway, it was a jeer and possibly even a little birdie flying his way. However, things that I have found out recently have made that nearly impossible for me and my aforementioned friend that we called Pam.

So, Pam and I were at lunch and we both spotted Bob. Pam wanted to go verbally assassinate Bob, and I wasn't about to stop her. So, she walked over to where he was standing, but sadly he walked away before she could skewer him. So all this did was make us angry about the whole deal again, but we thought it would pass and Pam figured that she could yell at him after school.

Little did we know that we would encounter another kink in this twisted storyline.

In Act III, a new character is introduced. We'll call him Dan. So, I was talking to Pam about how much Bob sucks once more, and Dan says "You know Bob? I know Bob, too!". So then I bugged my eyes out and whisper-yelled (because most of this was going on through Trig notes) "You know him? He sucks so much ass!". Well, Dan is confused by this because he's out of the loop. So, I wrote him a note explaining the whole situation. Dan then tells me that he doesn't know Bob very well, he used to hang out with him and still does once in a while. However, after that statement, his words became slow and strange-sounding. I think I blocked them out. . .the sentence itself didn't surprise me so much, but after following a description of the nature of the relationship between Bob and Dan, these words did not need to come out of Dan's mouth.

"I saw the pictures. I didn't know what they were then."

And thus, the return of Mr. Owl Face. I almost died once the words registered. The Twilight Zone music came back full force.

The big finish to this, however, is yet to come. I'm torn about whether or not Pam and I should take a sneaky-tell-the-girlfriend approach or if we should just bitch him out. Perhaps both. We'll see. Stay tuned for the conclusion of this drama.

Fake Clinics and other Sick Fucks

An Indiana mother recently accompanied her daughter and her daughter's boyfriend to one of Indiana's Planned Parenthood clinics, but they unwittingly walked into a so-called "crisis pregnancy center" run by an anti-abortion group, one that shared a parking lot with the real Planned Parenthood clinic and was designed expressly to lure Planned Parenthood patients and deceive them.

The group took down the girl's confidential personal information and told her to come back for her appointment, which they said would be in their "other office" (the real Planned Parenthood office nearby). When she arrived for her appointment, not only did the Planned Parenthood staff have no record of her, but the police were there. The "crisis pregnancy center" had called them, claiming that a minor was being forced to have an abortion against her will.

The "crisis pregnancy center" staff then proceeded to wage a campaign of intimidation and harassment over the following days, showing up at the girl's home and calling her father's workplace. Planned Parenthood's clinic director reports that the girl was "scared to death to leave her house." They even went to her school and urged classmates to pressure her not to have an abortion.

The anti-choice movement is setting up these "crisis pregnancy centers" across the country. Some of them have neutral-sounding names and run ads that falsely promise the full range of reproductive health services, but they dispense anti-choice propaganda and intimidation instead. And according to a recent article in The New York Times, there are currently more of these centers in the U.S. than there are actual abortion providers. What's more, these centers have received $60 million in government grants. They're being funded by our tax dollars.
Take a stand, please. Write your lawmakers and tell them this is unacceptable. Apparently, terrorism is okay with Bush as long as it's target is U.S women.

As for other sick fucks, well, Bob's still an asshole and I refuse to talk to him.

I can hear the Twilight Zone music. . .

My feelings today can be summed up with this image:

That's right. It's THAT FREAKY. *cues Twilight Zone music*

This is a personal story. Some names have been changed to protect the guilty and the innocent.

So, at school the other day, my boyfriend came up to me after my fourth period class. I know, I know, this seems like some crazy teen gossip thing, but believe me, it gets much more disturbing and much more feminazi-mode worthy. Back on the subject, he told me all about how he was talking to one of his friends (we'll call him Bob) about what happened over the weekend. Well, my boyfriend then proceeded to inform me that Bob had announced that he had sex over the weekend. I'm thinking "Okay, big whoop" at this point, until the other bomb was dropped on me. He then tells me that after some of the other guys told Bob he was lying that Bob said "I can prove it!". When the guys asked how, he said it was because there was blood on his bed. At this point, I thought "Okay. She was either a virgin or he's a mutherfucker, or maybe even both", so I started freakin' out and going into crazy feminazi mode. So, I told my boyfriend that I thought Bob was a crazy-ass weirdo who needs to learn how to control his joystick a little better, and I guess later in an instant message, my boyfriend told Bob that I was not happy with his behavior. Well, I later found out that the product of this conversation was gaining the knowledge that Bob was a virgin and so was the girl, so I figured I'd give the kid (who seemed really sweet, innocent, and nice when I met him) the benefit of the doubt and assume that she was a virgin who just bled a lot. He said that the blood thing freaked him out, too, so I figured he was pretty blameless in the whole ordeal, and I told myself that I just freaked out so much because of his whole "I can prove I had teh se><0rz " thing. End of Act I.

So, today at lunch I sitting and talking to another friend of mine who was at the infamous Bob sex table. We'll call this friend of mine Pete. So, I told him how freaked out I was by what my boyfriend told me about their conversation, and Pete then proceeds to tell me that I didn't even get the whole story and that Bob also said that he had taken pictures of his bloody bed after his girlfriend had left. At this point, I went OFF. My face mimicked that picture of the owl up there, and the same expression came out of my mouth, except I did not use mere letters. At this point, Pete is asking what I'm so worked up about, so I tell him! Also, my friend who was also there (her name will be Pam) was wondering what we were talking about. So I told her the details of Act I, and she also took part in a reenactment of Mr. Owl up there. Pete, however, is entirely oblivious. When I told him what my problem was, he acted like I was overreacting. He said "What if she gave him permission?". So, I gave him a Judge Judy: "Don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining, mutherfuckers". Well, so I gave him the explicit version, but believe me, that's totally what she wants to say. So, it pissed me off that Pete saw nothing wrong with that kind of behavior, because there most certainly IS something wrong with that behavior.

End of Act II. To be continued, however.

So now I ask:

What in the world would possess a male person to take pictures of the product of what might have been a lot of pain on the part of their sex partner? I mean, right now, I'm thinking Bob has zero respect for women, especially the girl that he had the thrill of deflowering. What makes a guy think that he has the right to photograph something that could potentially be incredibly embarrassing for a girl? Not only that, but what gives guys like Pete the notion that it's okay to condone that kind of misogynistic (not to mention freaky and disturbing) attitude and behavior? Is there no guy who will pipe up and say "What the hell is your problem? That's freakin' disgusting. Man you need to grow a pair"? Why is it that every girl I asked an opinion of made a face like Mr. Owl, but every guy I asked shrugged and said "Eh. He's just weird". Weird is an understatement assholes, and until you guys start doing something about this kind of shit, it's just going to continue. However, seeing as how it's so low on your "Get laid, get laid, take pictures if there's blood" to-do list, I have a feeling that women will be cringing at the spread of stories like this for a long time to come.

Happy Blog Against Heteronormativity Day, Everyone!

Hi, folks. Welcome to blog against heteronormativity day, Feminazi By Night style. For those of you who have never heard of the term, you can find a pretty good description of it here.

First on the list of subjects for this glorious awareness day is this new law in Nigeria. Apparently, Nigeria felt the need to lock the closet in which homosexuals often find themselves in. Now, if you come out, you might be held criminally liable, and if you tell any of your friends or family and they don't hate you, well, they're going down with you. This has got to be one of the most sweeping bouts of heteronormativity and ignorance that I've ever encountered. Hopefully, someone will wake up over there sometime soon.

However, sadly enough, we have this same sort of thing going on in this country. What with a proposed Constitutional amendment to make sure that homosexuals never have equal marriage rights, I feel this country is sliding down the slippery heteronormativity slope.

I just can't get my head around the idea that one sexuality is "better" than another. I mean, sure, there's the whole "We can make babies and you can't argument", but that doesn't work because there are many heterosexuals who can't make babies. What about them? I'm pretty sure that those suffering from heteronormativity would say that they are still superior because they are heterosexual. So, what does heterosexuality have that homosexuality doesn't have? I do believe that's the million dollar question.

However, I regress. As much as I don't like heteronormativity, I realize that getting rid of it's hold on society is a long road that may never end. Even proclaiming your sexuality can re-enforce heteronormativity. Honestly, society shouldn't even need those types of labels in the first place.

Not only that, but I think heteronormativity and patriarchy are best friends, and that bothers me. The absolute pervasiveness of both concepts also sends shivers down my spine. Heteronormativity not only keeps "the gays" (you know, kind of like they're your next door neighbors!) in line, but it also keeps "normal" men and women in line. Heteronormativity is just another tool of the patriarchy, and that, my friends, is something a feminazi by night does not want to see put to use.

In conclusion, this picture sums up my views on heteronormativity. Those of you with your heteronormativity and patriarchy pom-poms, well, just ponder it.

The Toupe Speaks, And It Is So.

The toupe has spoken. The evil feminists will not reign on college campuses anymore! The poor, pitiful, oppressed heterosexual white manses are going to rise up and take these intellectual centers back from the man-hating feminazis that have dominated them for so long! The time is now, manses, time to move out!

Yeah. I don't get it either. If the picture isn't creepy enough, here you have the article that goes with it. I think just the url is enough to make you go "huh?" if you have a brain that works at all and you aren't completely out of touch with reality.

Here are a few gems:

The story did not ring true to begin with. Rapists sneak around and do things as anonymously as possible. They plan their mark and then police spend a lot of time and resources to figure out who did it. Gang-raping women in busy college party bathrooms while hollering racial epithets is not something that happens even at “Animal House”.

Sadly, despite his superior knowledge and his ability to see through the evil feminist majority lies, Mr. Usher doesn't seem to realize that gang rape at parties is actually pretty popular. I guess he hasn't heard of the woman in Illinois whose party gang rape was videotaped. Or perhaps he's absolutely ignorant of this Orange County rape case. No, Mr. Usher, you're so right. Gang rapes at drunken parties are ALL a figment of feminazi imagination. Good call!

The “suspicious” email sent by one of the alleged rapists did not add up either. Folks do not send emails to friends joking nervously about torturing and killing a stripper unless something very upsetting did indeed take place. As the story unfolds, I predict we will find out that the stripper made a blackmail threat in the bathroom – something like – “you give me a lot of money or I will say you raped me”.
Ah yes, because as we all know, the woman didn't have a rape kit that had conclusive evidence that she was sexually assaulted. She vaginally and anally penetrated herself just to get back at the poor, heterosexual, male athletes. Why? Because she's one of those (black, you know how those folks always like to screw white folks out of their right to money) bitch, feminist, stripper, liars, that's why.

In fact, this essentially proves that none of the 46 white members of the team even touched her!
Exactly! She was swabbed head to toe, and nothing came up. And of course, knowing drunken college guys and their etiquette around strippers, I'm sure they really DIDN'T touch her. . .anywhere! I'm sure there was no ass-slapping, no groping, etc. I'm sure that no man there even so much as grazed her arm! Being the gentleman-like group they were, all without prior criminal records, I'm sure they just watched amazed and silently as the two women stripped for them. That's always how men watch exotic dancing, and if it's not, well, I'm sure the feminists twisted it around or something. That being said, this just goes to show that no faulty police work could possibly have been done.

Our stripper is a student at a North Carolina Central University. Colleges are famous for mandatory hyper-feminist coursework featuring lawyers and feminist activists that teach women how to use sex to take advantage of men and any institution that involves men.

Hahahahahaha. I don't even know if I have to comment on this one. Now, I'm no expert on college, but I've been to a class or two and have a sister who is currently drowning in debt because of it (although I'm sure she isn't because of those anti-man woman only scholarships). I'm just trying to figure out how men hiring a stripper to strip for them at a party comes from hyper-feminist coursework that teaches women how to take advantage of the poor brainless menz and any institution involving menz. Maybe the feminists have already gotten to me through my small amount of college experience, after all, I don't have the superior power of being able to see through awful feminazi lies.

As most of us know, this is just another wedge designed to distract from the fact that women initiate slightly over half of all serious spousal altercations.
Of course they did, Mr. Usher. We know that those women shouldn't have started those serious beatings by refusing to get back in the kitchen or refusing to wear the black lace thong that their husbands got themselves, er, their wives for their birthday.

Feminism has already destroyed over half the husbands and fathers in America.
Of course it is, Mr. Usher, because a man who isn't puffing himself up after a hard day at work, ruffling his perfect white son's head after work, and eating a yummy Martha Stewart-esque meal that wifey-poo whipped up because she knew it was his favorite lol is definitely unhappy, defeated, and destroyed. I feel testosterone's hurt, I really do.

Happy International Women's Day!

Luckily, I do have a computer, even though I had to use it for AP American History exam studying all day and now have to do a late Blog Against Sexism.

But oh well, I'm here now and that's all that matters.

I think I'll take my short little humble e-soapbox time to address those who don't believe sexism still exists on Blog Against Sexism Day, and on International Women's Day, and especially in Women's History Month. It seems as though your numbers are growing and that bothers me above all else.

Women still make less on the dollar than men.

I think that is awful. How long have women been in the workforce? Does it really take this long to gain equality in the workforce? No wonder we have the mommy wars going on. Maybe some women are tired of making less on the dollar! Well, that's probably a little far-fetched, but still. :)

We have men making awful comments about what the "perfect rape victim" would be, and we have people pitting woman against woman in a mud-wrestling match for who gets the right to bodily autonomy.

This year has marked a near-record number of anti-choice legislation (Not pro-life, this is specifically anti-choice). Women's access to contraception is still being held up by political hassles four years later (but don't worry ladies, that faulty boob job that your man wants you to get him for his birthday? They're FDA approved. Ready and waiting to give you health problems out the whazoo). Not to mention, if a man wanted to GET a woman pregnant, he can be sure that his Viagra is covered by federal funding.

To top it all off, we have rape victims being forced to carry pregnancies in South Dakota now, and 11 more states following in their theocratic, patriarchical footsteps. They just can't wait to make women baby-machines this year.

If this is not sexism, if this is a country that has reached gender equality, I'm wondering what the hell women have come from in the past.

This is not gender equality. This is not an age where feminism is no longer needed. This is Blog About Sexism Day and it has a purpose. It's purpose has not been met. If you tell me that there is no more sexism, I will most certainly tell you that you haven't been paying attention.

P.S. - LiveJournal For Choice is campaigning for a letter writing campaign to Oprah so she will do a show on choice and hopefully wake some women up. Please participate.

What the fucking shit is this?

I think I'll have to swipe the popular story to rant about today. It's just that disgusting.

So, a legislator in South Dakota gets off on his depiction of the perfect abortion recipient on national television. This display furthers the godbag theocracy notion that is currently plopping women back in the kitchen and slapping their uteruses full of white baby goodness.

The quote from the man?

A real-life description [of an exception scenario] to me would be a rape victim, brutally raped, savaged. The girl was a virgin. She was religious. She planned on saving her virginity until she was married. She was brutalized and raped, sodomized as bad as you can possibly make it, and is impregnated. I mean, that girl could be so messed up, physically and psychologically, that carrying that child could very well threaten her life.

What the fuck is that? So, only Christians can partake in the SIN that is abortion, and you have to have first already given up one of your womanly parts to some man, be it now or in the future. What the Hell? Only "undirtified" virgins get to have their body? I wonder if the woman whose rapist was acquitted even though she had a videotape of her gang rape is virginal enough and if she orally pleasures patriarchy's megalomania-crazed god-loving manhood enough to qualify for a body-rights pass.

Ugh. I'm too pissed off to think.

For their lovely victory. . .

Since South Dakota is patting itself on the ass for it's lovely display of patriarchy upholding and baybee-loving, some women and I figured, why not send them some trophies for all of their hard work winning the battle against teh baybee genocide?

Office of the Governor
500 E. Capitol Ave.

If you value your uterus and you're as pissed off as I am, join us in sending Mr. Governor what he wants. Send him any old knitting needles or wire coat hangers, please. Also, add in letters and pictures and anything to let him know how much you appreciate being put back in the kitchen where you belong.

Also, if you prefer e-mail, here's his website. You can e-mail him from it.

To make sure there are no more Hillary Clintons in this world. . .

Florida has now decided that political awareness groups will now be boys only.

That's right folks, it's a Boys State.

I know, I know, they say they have a Girls State, but really, that's just an afterthought.

It goes a little something like this:

"Now, you know you want to get your wonderful beautiful baby boy into this program about government where they can get involved in local government proceedings and stuff, but if you happen to have a girl, well, you can get her involved in the other program we have that might accomodate her."

See? Even "By God and Country", us womenz aren't supposed to get a say.

They start young. They start young. . .

OMFG

I'm never moving to South Dakota.

I know this is a plan. Get Alito and Roberts in there, create law to challenge Roe, overturn it.

Fuckers.

Oh My GOD. (The horrible horrible post)

A 17-year-old girl went to police at the urging of her friends after she was allegedly gang-raped by three men, including her boyfriend. The men testified that the act was consensual. After reviewing all the information and statements, prosecutors decided they didn’t think they could prove a rape allegation, and so declined to prosecute the case.
This is terrible. This is just absolutely horrific.

This is pretty bad, too, but that up there definitely takes the cake.

In addition, this picture is only so awful because it's true.

I might have some more awful-ness to add later, but for now, this is all I've got.

Comments from the Womb on Legs gallery.

Lilyunderwater wrote:

"READ THE GODDAMN POSTS I MADE about illegal abortion. Women are HAVING ILLEGAL ABORTIONS RIGHT NOW BECAUSE YOUR STUPID FUCKING "PRO-LIFE" MOVEMENT IS MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR THEM TO HAVE LEGAL ONES. THEY ARE SO DESPERATE THEY WILL DO ANYTHING TO GET RID OF THE PREGNANCY.

I really envy you. You will NEVER understand that kind of desperation. You don't even know how scared I've been when my period came late. You don't understand what it is like to wonder just how much it would hurt to hit yourself in the gut to cause a miscarriage, to wonder if you could manage to get to a clinic and pay for the procedure and still have NO ONE find out.

You will never stare down at your stomach and be afraid that there is something present inside that you never wanted and had no intention of creating. You will never welcome cramps or bleeding or passing out on the floor when you finally get your period, so thankful you got it you don't care how sick it makes you feel.

All this, and I have never even been pregnant. I've never even walked down that road, and I feel all of that.

You can NEVER understand. Don't fucking give us glibe little remarks about making murder safe and thinking you're witty. These are OUR lives you are passing judgment on. These are OUR sisters and OUR mothers and OUR daughters and OUR SEX that is being pulled in so many different directions by people who think they know what's best for us. "
I do believe the title says it all. These are comments from the womb om legs gallery, folks. This is what it's REALLY like when you have a working uterus and no freedom to decide what happens to it, and ultimately, to you. Therefore, this is what it's like to be a woman, especially a woman who is seriously considering or has already decided to have no children or never to go through a pregnancy.

Even myself, a sixteen year old girl who isn't even sexually active, I still feel this anxiety (probably not as much, but I still feel it). I still wonder how I'm going to manage EVER feeling comfortable about my sexuality when at any moment I may be relegated to a WOL (Womb on Legs, for those of you who are not pro-life and wouldn't know). It's ridiculous that people seriously think that I should "remain abstinent" for my entire life (or, well, until menopause, and even then if it's a false alarm I should have to give birth at 55) if I at all feel like I wouldn't want to forfeit my body for the use of a fetus.

In addition, take this comment:

ScarletLetter wrote:

"I think it's terrible that people who don't even know what a period feels like can just sum up 40 weeks of health/life threatening medical condition called pregnancy in one sentence and just make it sounds as though it's nothing major with no consequences.

Even the things you said about the period hit so close home. I, too, remember passing out on the floor. I remember being sent back home from school because I was so in pain, I kept vomiting and passing out, wanting to tear my ovaries and uterus out so it would stop hurting.

I remember lying all scared in the hospital, feeling a sort of fear I never felt before in my life, the fear for my life and life of my kid. I remember being so swollen, so in pain, so ill, and so scared that I am not going to make it and die at the age of 18. I remember the doctor cutting my lower belly and reaching inside my uterus to deliver my child and save both of our lives.

I remember every single damn second of it. And I don't think I'm likely to forget that, ever. I also remember a woman dying in childbirth while I was in the hospital for more than 3 weeks because my child was so small and tiny that they couldn't let us go home. I remember a nurse whose foot accidentally slipped while carrying a baby, the baby fell down on the floor and died.

This is the side of pregnancy, childbirth and being a woman that other people rarely want to hear. But it is there. It still happens. "
It's stories like this that make me irrate. People who call themselves "Pro-life" have no business forcing these types of risks onto women. They have no right to decide for women what kind of experience they should have when they fall pregnant. They are not the ultimate decider of right and wrong, and I have always been appalled when they try to act the part. They have no right to orphan a child by making a woman, the child's mother, take on health risks which ultimately result in her death.

The potential of a fetus is NEVER a reason to justify the death of a woman, by illegal abortion, forced gestation, etc.

It seems like no one values the opinion of the women who go through it, but then again, I couldn't imagine that people who use the legal system to butt into the bedrooms and private parts of women everywhere would really care about the blabbering of the whole class of people they're ordering around.

In any case, I thought these were very good specimens of real experience, of truth, and of the feelings of the people anti- laws affect. Take from them what you will, but the least you could do is LISTEN for once.

South Dakota Legislature to Consider Abortion Ban

In the next six weeks, South Dakota lawmakers will decide whether to make abortion a crime.

A bill that would ban abortion in the state will be introduced within the next two days.

The bill will be called the Woman's Health and Life Protection Act. It will ban abortion, but won't prosecute a doctor who performs one to save a woman's life.

And the lawmaker who's introducing the bill says he thinks now is the right time to try and over-turn Roe vs Wade.

Rep. Roger Hunt says, "Abortion should be banned."

Those four words will likely lead to many others in the South Dakota House and Senate as lawmakers will decide whether to criminalize abortion in the state. The bill's supporters are using findings from a controversial abortion task force report recently given to the legislature.

Hunt says, "DNA testing now can establish the unborn child has a separate and distinct personality from the mother. We know a lot more about post-abortion harm to the mother."

The legislature debated a similar bill two years ago, but Governor Mike Rounds vetoed it because of concerns over some technicalities.

Hunt says, "We have made those corrections to the bill."

Sunday, Hunt and other anti-abortion advocates held an event promoting their legislation. They say now is the time to pass it, because other states are considering similar bills and because with new Chief Justice John Roberts, and possibly Samuel Alito, the US Supreme Court is changing.

Hunt says, "Two very solid, we feel, pro-life candidates. Again you never know but based on their testimony to the senate we feel they're good candidates."

Hunt says he thinks enough other lawmakers support the bill for it to pass, but he still thinks the decision will be a close one.

He says, "I learned a long time ago the only time you really count the votes is when you're taking the votes."

Hunt will also introduce two other bills this week. One is meant to ensure doctors explain the risks of an abortion to a woman is writing. The other deals with sex education and says school districts need to include principles in their curriculums dealing with abstinence and personal responsibilities.

This is just lame. Talk about counting chickens, asshole.

Teh Stoopid Strikes Again

2006-JAN-11: Abortion access in Jamaica: According to LifeSiteNews.com, after the Government of Jamaica learned that the fatality rate for teenage mothers who receive abortions was 16%, they proposed a change in legislation that would give women access to abortion. (The death rate in the U.S. is about 0.001% which is much lower than the maternal mortality rate resulting from giving birth). The Medical Association of Jamaica supports the government's move, believing that it would decrease the death rate. The Roman Catholic Archbishop of Kingston, Lawrence Burke, has criticized allowing women to choose abortion. He has stated that maternal health is best served by locking up criminals who perform illegal abortions. 1

This is a news bit from ReligiousTolerance.org, and man is it full of teh stoopid.

First of all, yay for Jamaica.

Secondly, though, WTF is with that last statement? The best way to protect women from illegal abortions is to lock up abortion doctors? Huh? I guess they don't have bleach or other caustic products that women will use to try to abort? They don't have any kind of wire in Jamaica? Nothing? I guess that kind of stuff is only reserved for teh evil borshun millz.

Dumb. Just dumb.

Urgh.

Urgh was my word of the day.

Urgh when I saw Alito on the television this morning, urgh when I couldn't answer my Trig homework, urgh during my T.A period, and urgh when I was tired and didn't want to go to class.

This entry is going to be about the T.A. period.

If you don't know what a T.A. period, it's the class that I have where I am the bitch of one of the teachers. In this case, I am Ms. McMullen's bitch, along with two other girls. So, because I am Ms. McMullen's bitch, my friend and I were making copies for her. When we get back, her intern (who is not exactly 21 in the last years of college age, he's pretty old) is sitting watching TV.

Now, I thought he was a pretty cool guy until now, but today he just got creepy.

I thought he was watching the Discovery Channel, because on the TV is a 3-D fetus. Then as my friend and I walk further into the classroom, he proceeds to announce that the fetus (or, baybee as he called it) was his.

I replied with the general "Oh neato", and thought it would be the end of it.

OF course not. Never the end.

He goes on about the video and what they baybee's gonna do next.

*Interjection- Today I was wearing my very political in your face STFU asshole shirt reading "This is what a radically liberal pro-choice Pastafarian feminist looks like", just to let you know.*

So, once he gets done watching and narrating the movie of his fetus once, he rewinds it and plays it again! During this viewing, he proceeds to make comments about "abortion activists". My eyes bugged out of my head as he talked about how "OMG abortion activists let people 'bort these!"

The words pro-choice are plastered on my SHIRT, asshole. Buy a clue.

In any case, he goes on and on about what they can do, and whenever he forgets a little detail, I fill it in for him as a way of giving him a hint that I'm not some doofy girl who doesn't know shit about her body or fetal development and I'm not going to be duped by his assertion that of course fetuses are human people.

I got close to biting my tongue off when he said "Now tell me that isn't a human person. . ."

So, he was watching his fetus during his lunch break when he knew we would be in the room, he pushed his politics on his students. . .But don't think he's done! No no. He's just getting started in the ways he will proceed to break the borders of appropriate teacher-student relationships and ways to piss me off.

Not only is his twelve week fetus a baybee that borshun activists are trying to hunt down and poke with sporks until it keels over (as if the sporks are needed. Fetus - woman = death for fetus), but said fetus is worth hundreds if not thousands of dollars.

Mr. Intern-man leaped into the furthest areas of hypocrisy, and it was all I could do to not strike up a debate and pwn his self-righteous, inappropriate-behaving, hypocritical ass into the ground.

His baybee was a petri dish conception. What a selfish mutherfucker.

So, because he couldn't get his wife (who's probably five years old, blonde, and perky considering he told us he has "older sons") knocked up, he had to buy her a way to continue their DNA. So, even though he thinks unwanted children should be forced upon women, he can't bear to take any of them out of foster care because it wouldn't be his spawn.

What a prick. What a hypocrite.

I hope that when I tell Ms. McMullen about how out of line he was that he gets fired.

Bad thoughts, I know, but God-damn. He wishes equal if not worse shit on me and doesn't even realize it in all his bullshit.
